AWWA demands implementation of social security cover for Anganwadi employees

JAMMU, Oct 31: Anganwadi Workers Welfare Association (AWWA) triennial conference held at Geeta Bhawan Jammu under the chairmanship of Association president, Swarna Choudhary.
On the occasion, guest of honour was Pawan Kumar, Uttar Kshetra Parmukh Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) in which hundreds of Anganwadi workers from all the blocks of Jammu province participated. The General Secretary of AWWA, Neelam Sharma highlighted the activities and achievements of last three years. In the conference, Swarna Choudhary said that the state share of Anganwadi workers has not been revised from 2010 onwards.
Association demanded that state government must increase its state share equal to central Govt. share. Keeping in view their duties and different types of schemes work allotted to them at the village level.
It also demanded that the salary should be paid on monthly basis as it is being paid after a gap of 6 to 8 months due to which Anganwadi workers are facing financial hardships, adding that the salary form January to March 2019 and May 2021 to September 2021 has not been paid so far.
Ashok Choudhary while addressing the workers demanded that promotions to Anganwadi workers should be accorded.
On the occasion, Association also elected its new body with Swarna Choudhary reelected as president while Shardha Devi and Parseno Devi as vice presidents, Roshu Sharma as General Secretary, Shoba Sharma Dy General Secretary, Koshaliya Devi as Cashier, Jyoti Devi Assistant Cashier, Rekha Sharma as Publicity Secretary and Vijay Kumari as Organizing Secretary and Sunita Devi, Chanchal Devi, Sushma Devi, Neena Sharma, Surista Devi, Shakuntla Devi, Jyoti Devi, and Anju devi were nominated as executive members.
