Sports hold promise for career advancement of youth: Devinder Rana | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 31: Saying that sports hold big promise for career advancement of youth, former MLA and BJP leader Devender Singh Rana today called for societal responsibility in promotion of games. "Sports are not only beneficial for overall physical growth but lately it has emerged as a big incentive in shaping careers", Rana said at the concluding function of Bajalta Wrestling competition, while expressing satisfaction over traditional rural sports making a big comeback. Abdul Gani of Muneerkotla defeated Sanjay Gujjar of Delhi and clinched the winner's trophy in the tournament organized by Dangal Committee Bain Bajalta in which wrestlers from Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, and Himachal Pradesh besides Jammu participated. In all 75 bouts were held in the tournament. Rana expressed happiness over wrestling remaining popular among Indian youth, notwithstanding slight setbacks to the sport across the world over the years. Now, the sport is flourishing and becoming equally important and glamorous. This is a good omen for the rural activity, which has been very popular for centuries, he added. |
