| Shiksha Niketan holds Inter-School "Diya Decoration" competition | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 1: Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School Jeevan Nagar Jammu conducted an online Inter-School competition of class 6th on "Diya Decoration" on the eve of Diwali. The aim of this competition was to promote an awareness among the students that we decorate our homes with lights and diyas. According to the Hindu tradition the lighting of a Diya is an important part of prayer and it signifies purity, goodness, good luck and power. Diwali the festival of lights falls on the day of Amavasya or the new moon day. So the presence of light means the non-existence of darkness and evil forces. The festival of Diwali signifies the victory of light ove darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance and hope over despair. Two students from each of the three participating schools including Shiksha Niketan Sr. Sec. School Jeevan Nagar Jammu, Shiksha Niketan High School Gandhi Nagar and RMPS Chowadhi-Sainik Colony Jammu took part in this competition. All this six participants were full of zeal and enthusiasm and tried their best performance in "Diya Decoration" their "Interest & Attention" in this activity to excel their rivals (other contestants) seemed to be of par Excellence.
The competition was adjudged by Harpreet Kour, Art & Craft teacher of (APS) BSF School Paloura, Jammu. Amongst all the six participants in this Diya Decoration Competition three were shortlisted by her. Among the winners, Ist position was bagged by Jivika of class 6th from RM Public School, Jammu, 2nd position was bagged by Harshit Mahajan of 6th Blue from Shiksha Niketan School Gandhi Nagar and Mahima of 6th D from SNS Jeevan Nagar secured the 3rd position.
The Principal of the school, Rameshwar Mengi appreciated the efforts of the concerned teachers for their initiative and guidance to prepare and inspire the students for expressing their thoughts and views through their creative "Art and Craft Skills." |
