ACB files charge sheet against then BMO, 16 others in corruption case

Srinagar, Nov 1: J&Ks Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday filed chargesheet against the then Block Medical Officer (BMO) Beerwah and sixteen others for illegal and unauthorised appointments of Class-IV employees in Budgam district.
An ACB spokesman said that a chargesheet was produced against Dr Fayaz Ahmad Banday, then BMO Beerwah Budgam and others for illegal and unauthorized appointments of Class-IV employees in the district.
He said ACB produced chargesheet in Case FIR No. 22/2011 VOK now ACB in the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption against then BMO Beerwah Budgam, and others.
He said during verification it was revealed that during the period 2003-2006, the Block Medical Officers Dr Banday, Dr. Sheikh Tariq Ahmad and Dr. Mohammad Abdullah Bhat in active connivance with other accused beneficiaries issued fake and fabricated appointment orders on non-existent posts of Safaiwalas and Nursing Orderlies. He said, after obtaining relevant records from Block Medical Officers of District Budgam, Chief Medical Officer, Budgam, and Director Health Services Kashmir, found 71 illegal beneficiaries appointed by the accused without following due procedure by undue favour to the beneficiaries.
The charge-sheet was presented before the Trial Court against seventy one beneficiaries and sixteen other Officers and officials including accused doctors.
The next date of hearing in the case has been fixed on December 23, 2021, the ACB spokesman added.
