| Class 12th exams held in Kashmir amid rise in COVID-19 cases | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Nov 9: Class XII annual examination, being conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE), commenced on Tuesday in Kashmir with elaborate arrangements made by the authorities keeping in view the present rise in CoVID-19 cases. Officials said, about 74000 students have registered themselves for participating in the examination and BOSE has set up 739 examination centres in government and private schools across the valley.
They said, a centre for specially abled persons was also set up at Burn Hall School at Sonwar in Srinagar.
COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) was fully put in place according to the directions by the health department in all examination centres across the valley.
A UNI Correspondent saw girl students entering the caset School at Karan Nagar ahead of the time the exam starts at 12 noon. A health worker at the entrance gate was checking Oxygen level with the Plus oximeter besides providing hand sanitizers to students before entering the examination halls. Most students were seen wearing warm clothes expressing jubilation for attending the examination.
Proper distance was maintained between the examinees in the examination halls as only 50 percent seating capacity were put in a hall to maintain proper distance as per the COVID-19 SOPs.
The state executive committee of the department of Disaster Management Jammu and Kashmir has already ordered that students appearing in the examination should carry their parents' consent along on each day of their examination.
The students appearing in class X and XII annual examination have been given 30 percent relaxations in syllabus by the Board in view of the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic. The students have to attempt 70 percent marks from the question paper which will be treated as 100 percent for result computation. However, the students will have to complete their question paper in two and half hours instead of three hours. |
