Home Ministry takes serious note of selective killings, sends more forces to Kashmir

Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 9: Taking serious note of target killings by the terrorists, the Union Government has decided to send five additional companies to Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) J&K to further strengthen the security grid in the Union Territory (UT).
As per reports, these companies will be deployed in different areas within a week. The CRFP has earlier sent 25 companies to J&K.
Highly placed sources said that during his recent visit to J&K, Union Home Minister, Amit Shah had made it clear that selective killings would not be tolerated. While chairing a high-level security review meeting at Srinagar, Shah had emphasized coordination among different agencies to frustrate evil designs of terrorists who were indulged in selective killings to create a fear psychosis. The announcement to send more CRPF companies came a day after a salesman Ibrahim Khan was shot dead by terrorists in Srinagar.
In another targeted attack on Sunday, constable Tawseef Ahmad Wani was killed by terrorists in Srinagar’s Batamaloo area.
Salesman Ibrahim Khan, who hailed from Bandipore district, was employed with a Kashmiri pandit businessman Roshan Lal Mawa, whose business is located in the old city of the Valley. It is widely believed that Mawa was the target of the terrorists but they mistakenly killed the salesman. Over the past few weeks, as many as 11 civilians, mostly non-locals, have been targeted by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.
Notably, constable Wani was killed by terrorists just weeks after his family was visited by Union Home Minister Amit Shah last month, as per reports in the media. According to the information, Dr. Mawa had left the showroom about half an hour ago. It is feared that Dr. Mawa was the target of the terrorists. The Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist organization The Resistance Front (TRF) is suspected to be involved in the attack.
