Jammu leads fight against Covid
11/9/2021 11:10:57 PM
The administration in Srinagar has imposed Corona curfew in ten areas after there was a spike in the COVID-19 cases. The officials in Srinagar have been urging people to follow the guidelines and have warned that Srinagar could become a reason for the outbreak of third wave of COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir.
During the past few days the maximum cases are being reported from Kashmir and Srinagar is topping the list. However, things are much better in the Jammu region as people are following the SOPs to ensure that the virus doesn’t raise its ugly head again.
People of Jammu have shown exemplary discipline during the past two years and have fought the COVID-19 valiantly. They have followed the guidelines and advisories in letter and spirit. In the Jammu division people didn’t show any vaccine hesitancy and ensured that they got the COVID-19 jabs according to their turn. All along the way Jammu has been leading from the front. And the results are evident as the vaccinated people in Jammu are in a better position to fight COVID-19.
However, experts are of the opinion that the pandemic has not ended yet and people cannot sit and relax. They have to follow the SOPs and ensure that social distancing norms are not violated. In Srinagar people are not adhering to SOPs. The wedding season in the Valley too has led to the increase in number of cases. The Corona curfew returning to Srinagar parts is an indication that the situation could turn grim if the people don’t realize the importance of following the SOPs and guidelines.
In Kerala, the third wave of COVID-19 has already emerged and people are grappling to fight the virus. People in Jammu need to remember that prevention is better than cure. We have to remain careful and vigilant as these are the only ways through which the pandemic can be defeated.
Srinagar witnessing a spike in cases is not a good sign. It happened there today, it can happen anywhere tomorrow. The COVID-19 virus is there to stay, the only thing we can do is that we can fight it in a better way. We need to wear masks, maintain hand hygiene and follow social distancing norms, these are weapons that will help all of us and people should bear in mind that getting vaccinated holds the key.
