11/9/2021 11:11:52 PM

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Nov 9: District Development Council (DDC) member Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony has said that LG administration is ditching farmers by not providing adequate and promised enhanced relief at par with Delhi government @ Rs. 50,000 per acre or on the pattern of Haryana and Punjab governments or as per the market rates.
Tony has sought LG Manoj Sinha’s immediate intervention to get the relief increased and do justice with the hailstorm hit farmers. In a statement, Tony said, “Compensation was to be paid to the farmers as per any of the aforesaid proposals which as per information available has not been taken into consideration at all. As per the unconfirmed information provided by revenue authorities if a farmer has 80 Kanals of land there will be 20 per cent cut in compensation.”
Tony appealed the government to come clean and clear the mist regarding compensation to be paid to the hailstorm hit farmers. He recalled that during his tour LG’s Advisor Farooq Khan had promised at Dablerh in RS Pura when the demand for compensation was put forth before him to get the relief enhanced through LG Sinha by putting up the case before the Union Agriculture Minister Tomar. The Advisor had assured that after that the J&K Administration will enhance relief to be paid to hailstorm victim farmers.
Tony said that loss to farmers is colossal for paddy being the main crop of the rice bowl of J&K. He said that dilly dallying policy of the government in releasing the compensation will not be tolerated and demanded that government should give relief on the pattern of Delhi government led by Arvind Kejriwal. He said that government should not test the patience of farming community at this hour of crisis and extend help as soon as possible.
