DCs to launch special vaccination drives to complete 2nd Covid dose, testing to be ramped up

JAMMU, Nov 9: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer today asked the Deputy Commissioners to launch special vaccination drives in districts to cover left out individuals for the second Covid vaccine dose and to achieve 100 percent vaccination. He was chairing a meeting to review the overall covid situation and dengue mitigation efforts in the districts.
During the meeting it was informed that in various districts there is overdue of vaccine doses for which the Div Com directed the Deputy Commissioners to launch special drives in markets, malls, fields etc to cover the left out population.
He also stressed on ramping up of testing in the districts and directed health department to increase the number of testing sites for the purpose.
The Div Com also reviewed the status of enforcement of Covid SOPs and adherence to Covid appropriate behaviour in the districts. He instructed the SSPs to activate teams to check violation of SOPs. They were also told to continue public awareness announcements specially in markets.
The Div Com appealed the public to take 2nd covid vaccine doses and also urged public to follow Covid SOPs and adopt Covid appropriate behaviour to combat Covid-19.
Meanwhile, the Div Com also reviewed Dengue situation in the districts of Jammu division and directed the health department for taking appropriate steps for source reduction.
The Div Com stressed on intensifying ‘Information Education and Communication campaigns’ to educate the public about prevention against Dengue, Malaria & Chikungunya through print, electronic and social media. He also stressed on conducting a special campaign to educate the general masses about preventive measures with focus on personal protective measures against Dengue.
The meeting was attended by SSP Jammu, Director Health Service Jammu, Nodal Officer Divisional covid control room and other concerned officers while Deputy Commissioners alongwith SSPs participated through video conferencing.
