KVIB organises awareness program on self- employment schemes at Kootah

KATHUA, Nov 27: Jammu & Kashmir Khadi and Village Industries Board (J&KKVIB), in collaboration with Department of Information and Public Relations today organised an awareness cum sensitization programme on employment schemes here at village Kootah.
The Awareness programme was conducted under the supervision of Secretary J&K KVIB Atul Sharma and attended by Block Development Council Chairman Vijay Tagotra, Dy.CEO J&K KVIB Jammu Division Tilak Raj, District Officer Harvinder Singh, Sarpanch Kootah and other officers of the Board, Bankers, PRIs and a large number of unemployed youth.
The Theme of the programme was “From Swadeshi to Atma Nirbhar Bharat-A Journey by the People of the India”.
Addressing the gathering, the Secretary said the aim of holding the event was to educate the unemployed youth of the area about different self-employment schemes being implemented by the board. He impressed upon the unemployed youth and the budding entrepreneurs to come forward to avail the benefits of self employment schemes to start their employment generating ventures.
While elaborating the schemes, he said that under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and Jammu and Kashmir Rural Employment Generation Programme (JKREGP) schemes 25 to 35% subsidy is provided to the beneficiaries, whereas, an assistance up to Rs 25 lakh and Rs 10 lakh is provided under manufacturing and service sectors, respectively.
The Secretary KVIB further said that these schemes are also envisioned to contain migration of the people from rural to urban areas in search of job opportunities. He informed that both the schemes are online and people can avail their benefits from their home without visiting offices.
The Secretary also mentioned that J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board is also the Nodal Agency for Implementing Scheme of Funds for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI) for UT of J&K. He urged the NGOs, Trusts and registered Societies to come forward for revitalization of the traditional vanishing industries under these schemes by formation of clusters.
Dy. CEO Jammu Division presented the details about the types of the activities allowed under both the schemes and those falling under the negative list. He gave a detailed presentation on both PMEGP and JKREGP schemes to the participants.
Meanwhile, Artists of the Department of Information and Public Relations presented a cultural Programme featuring Dogri, Punjabi, Hindi folk and patriotic songs which was highly appreciated by the audience.
