Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 27: Even as the security forces are working hard to restore peace and prosperity in militancy infested Jammu and Kashmir, the Ansar Ghazawatul Hind is trying to cast its evil eye on the Union Territory.
Sources said the intelligence agencies have inputs that the AGH is trying to indoctrinate the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to meet its ulterior motives.
Source said National Investigation Agency has already started investigations into one such case.
It was reliably learnt that the NIA recently conducted searches at five locations in Shopian and Budgam districts of Kashmir in connection with case that was actually filed in Uttar Pradesh in the summer of this year.
Sources said the case pertains to one Umar Halmandi, an Al-Qaeda operative, who along with other accused persons, is accused of radicalizing and recruiting vulnerable youth.
Sources said the group, which is under the scanner, was trying to raise AGH network in J&K to carry out terror strikes for which they had already arranged arms and explosives. Sources said one such plot got exposed in July this year when the Police claimed to made a breakthrough by arresting some of the accused along with recovery of incriminating material.
Initially the case was registered vide FIR No. 10/2021 dated 11.07.2021, PS-ATS, Uttar Pradesh and subsequently the case was handed over to the NIA which suspect links in Jammu and Kashmir as well. It’s pertinent to mention that in the wake of spike in “target killings” in Kashmir the Union Home Ministry is not taking any chances and that the concerned in intelligence and investigation grid have been asked to further gear up their guard.
Over half a dozen civilians have been killed in Kashmir since the first week of October, which witnessed a spike in killing of non-Muslims and non-locals.
In the last week of October, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had visited J&K for four days. His focus had remained security situation in the region and measures that need to be taken further.
