IRP 18th Bn organises students’ visit to Balidhan Stumbh

JAMMU, Nov 27: To mark the celebration of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav, Indian Reserve Police (IRP) 18th Bn today organised a students’ visit to Balidhan Stumbh and Police Martyrs Memorial under its Civic Action Programme.
Around 150 School Students of J&K Police Public School Miran Sahib, Government Girls Higher Secondary School Shastri Nagar, Government Higher Secondary School Bahu Fort, Government High School Qasim Nagar and Government Girls High School Gandhi Nagar alongwith their teachers were taken to Balidan Stambh Bagh-E-Bahu Jammu and Police Martyrs Memorial located at Rail Head Complex to pay tribute/respect to the Martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
The event was attended by Kulbir Singh, -SSP; Abdul Aziz Khan Dy.SP; Mohd Zabir Mirza Dy.SP and Farooq Hussain Shah Dy. SP IRP-18th BN DPL Jammu.
At the Police Martyrs memorial the students were briefed about the importance of the memorial and its history by Commandant of the Battalion Kulbir Singh. The students paid floral tributes at the memorial and appreciated the sacrifices of J&K Police.
Most of the students were not aware of the importance of the place and promised to spread the knowledge gained to the public in general. Thereafter the students were shown the War Memorial/Balidhan Stambh and were briefed in detail about the memorial and history associated with it. At Balidan Stambh Police Orchestra/Brass Band played patriotic songs to which the students listened carefully and attentively. They were also served breakfast, Lunch, and a cup of tea. The students were then allowed to move to their respective schools in Police buses arranged by the Battalion.
