Reasi Admin organises Pani Samiti Sammelan

REASI, Nov 27: District Administration Reasi organised Pani Samiti Sammelan at District Auditorium DC Office , here the other day.
Pani Samitis have been constituted in consonance with the guidelines of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) to oversee and lead conservation of water and water bodies in the rural areas.
In his address, Charandeep Singh said that these Samities are required to be trained, updated regarding various Schemes, and given an exposure about best practices across the country. He emphasized that the Pani Samiti will act as the crucial decision making and executing body in the implementation process. He said that a total 118 water supply schemes have been proposed under Jal Jeevan Mission for the district to provide tap water to every household of the district.
The DC Reasi further said that Women can play an important part in realizing the objectives of Samitis. "As a consequence of this composition the villages should once again learn to work as a collective force and think together for the conservation of Water sources. They can together face various challenges with common objectives," he added.
During the programme, different water supply schemes were explained by Xen Jal Shakti of Dharmari and district Reasi, while Chemist Sachin Kumar gave a demonstration on Water testing.
Later, Chief Planning Officer Sunita Kanchan presented a letter written to all Sarpanches under JJM by the Prime Minister.
Additional District Development Commissioner Jyoti Salathia; POICDS Renu Kumari; ACD Anirudh Rai along with other district officers as well as PRIs were also present on the occasion.
