Early Times Report

Sunderbani, Dec 8: In an apparent ‘misuse’ of official position, a local naib sarpanch is ostensibly not producing documents for establishing a flour mill.
According to sources, naib sarpanch is not ready to show documents of approval and license of the flour mill because he has managed it through alleged illegal means.
“A naib sarpanch in one of the tehsils of Sunderbani is exhibiting full power by ignoring official summons,” said sources, adding that the naib sarpanch is so influential that he has taken entire administration on ride.
Sources maintained that the naib sarpanch managed license of flour mill from Revenue Department.
“Sensing forgery, locals brought the matter into the notice of concerned authorities, including TSO, claiming that there is no need of flour mill in the area, as it has Government Middle School and Veterinary Hospital in the close proximity.
Sources alleged that the influential naib sarpanch has, although, managed no objection certificates from the respective officers, but competency of the officers has been challenged by the locals.
“Locals have questioned the competency of the officials of the middle school and hospital for issuing NOC,” said sources, adding that as per set guidelines, both the officials, who had issued NOC in favour of naib sarpanch are not entitled to issue any such certificate.
Sources, quoting locals of the panchayat asserted that reports submitted by TSO are not fair and even allegedly manipulated to benefit the naib sarpanch.
“Having said that the NOC has been issued by incompetent officers, the report submitted by the TSO Sunderbani also required scrutiny,” said sources, adding that a written complaint in this regard stands filed with tehsildar and ADC.
Sources claimed that license is very clear about the site and structure of the building.
“Naib sarpanch is constructing flour mill on the site different from the one approved by the revenue department,” alleged sources, adding that naib sarpanch was asked by the competent authorities to produce relevant documents in this regard, but misusing his official position, nain sarpanch has not complied the instructions so far.
When contacted the naib sarpanch, refused to speak on the matter.
However, Tehsildar Sunderbani Ravi Shankar said he will check all the documents and if found genuine will allow naib sarpanch to run flour mill.
Meanwhile, locals appealed Lieutenant Governor’s administration to keep an eye on such people who misuse their official positions for vested interests.
