Linking Aadhaar with voter card will nail bogus voters: Suri
"Opposition doesn't want transparency"
12/22/2021 10:39:16 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 22: "The Election Laws (Amendment) Bill 2021, linking Aadhaar card with the Voter Identity Card, passed by the Lok Sabha as well as Rajya Sabha is historic in the sense that with this decision, bogus voters will be nailed and complete transparency will be maintained in the election process. Those opposing this decision don't want transparency in the election process and are siding with fake and bogus voters".
This was stated by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member Raman Suri, who said that it was the same opposition that once demanded linking Aadhaar with voter cards and way back in 2018, held meeting with the Election Commission of India asking it to stop discrepancies in the voter cards by linking the same with Aadhaar. This is strange that the very same opposition leaders tried to stall this bill by creating a din in the Houses of the Parliament during current session.
He added that even today, when the bill has been passed by both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, the voters have been asked to link their Aadhaar cards with Voters ID at their sweet will as it is not mandatory for them. Despite that, the opposition is causing hue and cry, which speaks volume of them doing politics for the sake of politics, without considering the reformative measures that are need of the hour.
Raman Suri said that reasons that the opposition is citing are baseless and privacy of no one will be compromised as all ration cards and PAN cards are also linked with Aadhaar cards, where there is no breach of privacy. This means that opposition parties have made it a practice to create ruckus in the house and disrupt smooth proceedings of the Parliament for no reason.
There were times when people, backed by some politicians, even opposed the Voter IDs but ever since the same are made, there has been an order in the system of elections, he said, adding that opposing this particular bill means that these politicians don't want reforms in the system and are hell bent upon rigging elections using the bogus voters.
