Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 22: Even as seeking help from the Indian Army had snowballed into a major controversy, it was a senior officer who had come up with the allegedly controversial plan.
Official documents reveal that senior officer had asked the civil administration to seek help from the Indian Army.
The Early Times has got access to official documents, which suggest that the official had issued the allegedly controversial orders to civil administration in Jammu.
A requisition from the office of District Commissioner, Ramban to the Indian Army seeking help for running power stations in the district, confirmed about the same.
Seeking help from the Indian Army had snowballed into major controversy with politicians calling it the “breakdown” of the civil administration in Jammu and Kashmir.
Former Chief Ministers, Omar Abdullah and his counterpart from Peoples Democratic Party, Mehbooba Mufti had sharply reacted to the development.
“The army has been called to operate the power infrastructure in Jammu division of J&K. There no bigger admission of failure for a civilian administration than to call upon the army, it means a total breakdown of governance has been accepted by the J&K government,” Omar had said.
Mehbooba, on the other hand, had taken a dig at New Delhi over the issue.
J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu under the leadership of its President M K Bhardwaj had held a protest Dharna against power crises.
Bhardwaj had said that calling Indian Army for providing essential services in Jammu was the utter failure of the administration.
