| GDC Jourian celebrates “Dogri Manyata Diwas” | | |

JAMMU, Dec 22: Govt Degree College (GDC) Jourian celebrated “Dogri Manyata Diwas” to commemorate the inclusion of Dogri in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava Programme. The inclusion of Dogri was the result of long struggle in which every section of the society had contributed immensely. In this connection a poet conference in the college was organized in which local Dogri writers were invited and honoured. The programme started with lighting of the traditional lamp by worthy Principal Sh. Kuldeep Raj Sharma along with invited guests Yashpal ‘Nirmal’ Rajinder ‘Ranjha’ Roshan Bral ‘Roshan’ Ranbir Singh, Heena Choudhary, Subash Chander ‘Farnalia’ and members of the staff Prof Naseeb Bhagat, Prof Hilal and Dr Pervaiz were also present in the program..
Prof. Kuldeep Raj Sharma Principal of the college presided over the programme, which was attended by large number of students of the college. Muskan verma, Sonia Bharti, Sonali Rajput, Meenakshi Rajput recited Dogri poems and presented their Views on importance of Dogri. The welcome address was delivered by Dr.Rakesh Bharti, Assistant Professor of Education. In his presidential address, Prof. Kuldeep Raj Sharma lauded the efforts of Department of Dogri and IQAC for celebrating the day. He further said that constitutional recognition has opened new vistas for Dogri Language.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr. Rimjhim Gupta, head of the deptt. of Dogri. At the end of event formal votes of thanks were presented by Dr. Vandana Rajput, Assistant Professor of English. |
