Administration XI beats Secretary XI in friendly cricket match

JAMMU, Dec 25: A friendly T-20 cricket match organized by J&K Sports Council was played between teams of Secretary XI and Administration XI at M.A Stadium Jammu today. While as the administration team was led by Mukesh Singh ADGP Jammu, it comprised of many prominent faces including Raghav Langer Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Avny Lavasa, Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation, Hasseb-ur-Rehman, Senior Superintendent of Police SDRF, Chandan Kohli Senior Superintendent of Police Jammu besides other officers and officials while as the Secretary XI was led by Mohamad Yaqoob Itoo, Director General Budget. The Secretary XI also included many prominent faces from J&K administration including Nazim Zai Khan Secretary to Government, Disaster Management Relief & Rehabilitation, Shafat Yahya Joint Director Budget, Dr. Zaffar Ahmad and Naseer Ahmad, Chief Accounts Officer J&K Sports Council and Power Corporation respectively and other officials from varied departments including Sports Council. Secretary Sports Council Nuzhat Gul who supervised the arrangement from word go was present in the ground all through the match along with Divisional Sports Officer Ashok Singh and other officials of J&K Sports Council to keep venue ready for the occasion besides putting other necessary arrangements in place. While congratulating both the teams for putting up an excellent match which went down to almost last minute, she said that such events are an ideal way of building team spirit and camaraderie amongst the officers and officials from varied government departments and also provides a healthy ecosystem for sports culture to flourish. She also assured that more such matches in not only cricket but other sports disciplines all for people of all walks of life under 'Sports for all' programme. After winning the toss Secretary XI scored 120 in 20 overs. For Secretary XI Naseer, Zaffar and Anil scored 20 runs each and Shafat chipped in with useful 14. Administration XI bowlers led by Rajesh Gill former Ranji Trophy Player, who bagged 3 wickets, Mukesh Singh, Hasseb-ur-Rehman and Chandan Kohli with 2 wickets each halted their progress. The Administration XI team won the match by five wickets in 19th over. Southpaw Mudassir remained not out on 55 while as Rajesh Gill scored 42 runs. These two not only studied the innings but simultaneously kept the score board ticking. Though there were some flashy performances deep down the batting order by Raghav Langer and Mukesh Singh who scored 14 and 10 runs respectively, the winning runs where hit by Chandan Kohli.
For Secretary XI Nazim Zai Khan and Anil were pick of the bowlers who bagged two scalps each while as skipper Mohamad Yaqoob Itoo bagged one wicket. For his all-round performance Rajesh Gill was declared the man of the match.
