250 revenue documents, other services provided at block diwas meetings across Rajouri

RAJOURI, Dec 29: As many as 250 revenue documents, besides several other services were today provided to people during block diwas meetings held across Rajouri district.
District Development Commissioner, Vikas Kundal presided over the Block Diwas programme at Thanamandi.
Among the others, DDC Member Thanamandi, Abdul Qayoom Mir; SSP, Mohammad Aslam; ADDC, Pawan Kumar; ACD, Sushil Khajuria; Principal GDC Thanamandi, Javed Qazi; DSEO, Bilal Rashid Mir; PO ICDS, Kartar Singh; AC Defence, Saleem Qureshi; DSHO, Dr Safraz Naseem Chowdhary besides other District and Sectoral Officers; PRIs, scores of people from all sections of the society were present during the event.
President MC Thanamandi, Shakeel Mir was also present during the program.
The DDC inspected the stalls put up by different departments at the venue showcasing government schemes and programs being implemented in the district for the welfare of the common masses.
Public and their representatives projected several issues and demands of their areas. They sought macadamization of roads, up-gradation of schools, better healthcare facilities, adequate staff in Government institutions besides other related issues.
Specific issues projected on the occasion included the paucity of staff in CHC Thanamandi, compensation for land acquired for Rajouri-Thanamandi road, measures to ensure smooth traffic movement on Rajouri TMD road, exaggerated electricity bills, unscheduled power cuts etc.
Other issues included shortage of water pipes, inclusion of eligible beneficiaries under SMAS, blacktopping of roads under PMGSY to be expedited, shortage of infrastructure in health institutions, dilapidated condition of the road from Sohra to Shadra and its delayed compensation, sanctioning of old age, widow pension etc.
Public also demanded sanctioning of a super speciality hospital, up-gradation of Government High School Azmatabad to HSS, inclusion of left out beneficiaries under PMAY, delay in the execution of work on the road from Thanamandi to Mangota, shortage of power transformers, delayed payments under PMAY and MGNREGA, construction of road from Azmatabad to Ratanpir, the road from hasplote to Dhor, construction of a mini revenue complex etc.
Some more issues included strengthening of Panchayat Raj Institutions, shortage of funds under 14 FC, up-gradation of PHC Thanamandi, dissemination of necessary awareness among the public about Govt schemes, progress on construction of PWD Dak Bungalow to be expedited, lack of connectivity at Churung village and other issues.
The DDC gave a patient hearing to all the issues and demands projected during the program and assured redress of the same in a phased manner with the intervention of the concerned departments.
Underlining the objective of Block Diwas, he said that these programmes are being organised to take an appraisal of local issues from the general public for accurate and on-ground assessment and redressal of the same thereby providing governance to the public at their doorsteps.
Highlighting the importance of public participation in the developmental process, he urged the public and PRIs to work in tandem with the District Administration to take their areas to new heights of development and prosperity.
Talking about the measures being taken for ensuring better connectivity to the public, the DDC apprised that the work on several connectivity projects is under execution and concrete efforts are being made to ensure the timely completion of the projects.
While responding to water scarcity issues raised by the public, he informed that necessary directions have been passed on to the concerned authorities to take effective and immediate measures to address the problem.
Regarding delayed compensation payments of roads under the PMGSY sector, the DDC directed the concerned officer to ensure that necessary compensation in terms of roads is paid in six months.
For the up-gradation of PHC Thanamandi to the CHC level, DDC assured that he will take up the matter with the concerned authorities.
Calling for strict adherence to COVID related protocols, he appealed to the public to follow COVID appropriate behaviour to avert the imminent threat of the omicron variant of the Covid19. He also urged the public to take both doses of Covid vaccine to stay safe.
The DDC also distributed category certificates and EWS certificates among the beneficiaries.
In all 250 revenue documents besides other services were also provided to the general public during the event.
Meanwhile, the DDC also visited a Dairy unit at Dodasan Pain established under the IDDS scheme of the Animal Husbandry Department. He advised the farmers to put in added efforts to promote milk and milk products in the district and assured full support to them from the District Administration.
Similar Block Diwas events as per the roster issued by the DDC Rajouri were organised at designated places to redress the public grievances and provide various services.
