DDC Vice Chairperson Kathua Raghunandan Singh, DDC member Nagri, District and Sectoral officers were also present.
The programme witnessed scores of individuals and deputations including PRI members projecting demands and appraising the District Administration about the problems faced by the inhabitants of their respective areas.
They sought release of pending MGNREGA liabilities, replacement of worn out water pipes, cleaning of kuls, release of pending land compensation, repair of pond, drinking water supply, resolving of the problem of ration card bifurcation, demand of opening of public library and other amenities.
Responding to the demand for bifurcation of Ration Cards, the DC said that the government has issued revised guidelines with regard to entitlement of ration for people belonging to different categories with the provision of adding and deleting members from one family to another.
While taking cognizance of the matter related to clogged irrigation kuls, he directed the Executive Engineer, IFC to visit the spot and submit the detailed report.
Regarding the demand of opening of public library in Kharote, the DC assured that district administration is mulling to set up more libraries in the coming times.
On the issue of pending MGNREGA liabilities and the matter of pending 14th & 15th FC grants, the DC said both the matters have already been taken up with concerned authorities.
While addressing the gathering, the DC enjoined upon the PRIs to start in advance preparations for next year's plan so that the object of 100 % completion of projects could be achieved within timelines.
He called upon the youth to avail job opportunities offered under the umbrella of Mission Youth and other avenues of becoming self employed in agriculture, horticulture and allied sectors. He said the government has taken a series of steps to engage youth to capacitate them for making them not just self-reliant but also job providers for many others.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC Vice Chairperson lauded the step of the government to decentralize the powers to the grassroots level through three-tier Panchyati Raj. He said the Block Diwas ensures doorstep public service delivery and redressal of the genuine grievances of the common man. He also appreciated the local Police for thwarting the bovine smuggling attempts and expressed concern about the growing drug menace in fringes of Kathua belt. He called for coordination and collaboration among the departments and PRIs to achieve desired development objectives.
