JKTJAC holds meeting at Jourian, raises issues of teachers

JAMMU, Dec 29: Jammu Kashmir Teachers' Joint Action Committee (JKTJAC) today organized a grand meeting of teachers at Jourian (Jammu).
The meeting was organized under the leadership of UT Vice President JKTJAC Surjit Singh Chib, District President Jammu Ravinder Manhas & Ravinder Singh Chib Prov Gen secretary where UT President JKTJAC Vinod Sharma was the chief guest and UT Secretary Sukhdev Singh Sumbria, UT Chief Press and Media Secretary Sukesh Khajuria, Provincial President Jammu Province Rajesh Jamwal, UT convenor Anita Kiran and Bhushan Khajuria were the guest of honours.
The meeting was attended by a large number of teachers of Zone Jourian beside Zonal President Mohinder Singh.
While speaking on the occasion Vinod Sharma stressed for implementation of New Education Policy up to grass root level in the UT of J&K and assured to achieve the target of the government to provide quality education to the children of far flung areas. At the same time he expressed his grave concern on the harassment of teaching fraternity by the terror of deadwood.
He said that the department should make it public that what the deadwood means as the term is harassing the teaching fraternity and they are forced to make strategy regarding the subject.
On the occasion, he also raised burning issues of the teachers which include comprehensive transfer policy in favour of teachers appointed under ReT pattern as they have been serving in the same schools for last more than 20 years; Inclusion of 5 years ReT period for seniority benefits by favour of the department in the Court; DPC of teachers as same has not been done since 2014 ; Conversion of headteachers (SSA) posts into non plan posts of masters for the resolution of their salary issue; Raising of grade of teachers at par with their counterparts in other UTs.
He also demanded old pension scheme for the NPS employees of the UT so that their post retirement life not be in trouble. He appealed the UT administration to resolve all these issues of the teachers and not harass them on the name of deadwood.
Speaking on the occasion, Provincial President Rajesh Jamwal demanded the regularization of left out ReTs and permission to enhance qualifications in favour of teachers who have applied after 01.01.2021 and before the issuance of order for stopping the post facto permission.
