Workshop on “Marketing Strategies of Agri Farm Products” organized at Kisan Kendra

JAMMU, Dec 29: A day long workshop on “Marketing Strategies of Agri FarmProducts” was organized by ‘Invest India’ in collaboration with Directorate of Agriculture Production & Farmers welfare, Jammu at Kisan Kendra, Talab Tillo, here today.
The workshop was inaugurated by Director AP & FW, Jammu, Sh. K. K. Sharma by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
In his keynote address, the Director Agriculture mentioned that success of future agriculture is based upon organic farming, branding, efficient marketing, data digitization and infrastructure development. He suggested some actionable points to achieve the objective of efficient marketing. He underscored that technological revolution in agriculture can be achieved by adopting the latest technology in the field through use of farm mechanization, precision agriculture, protective cultivation, artificial intelligence, and creating financial literacy among the farmers.
Joint Director (Inputs), A. S. Reen said that the focus of the department is to transform the producer into an entrepreneur for higher returns and better marketing plays an important role in achieving this target.
Joint Director (Extension), Subash Chander Sharma in his welcome address highlighted the importance of marketing in raising farm income and urged the participants to take full advantage of the workshop. Joint Director (Marketing), Mahesh Verma detailed on various marketing strategies in agri sector. Mr. Shabir Ahmed of National Innovation Foundation, India spoke on how to explore innovative ideas among the farmers and development/use of need based machinery in farming which can help in increasing quality, quantity of farm produce.
Aditya Gupta, Team Leader Inert It Pvt Ltd. through power point presentation explained the role of Agri e-commerce in promoting the marketing of farmers produce by creating direct linkage between farmer and end consumer through electronic mode. Agri E commerce provides opportunity to streamline the agri value chain and reducing inefficiencies in distribution of farm produce.
Reeba Ibrahim from Agricultural and Processes Food products Exports Development Authority (APEDA) through virtual mode deliberated on step wise procedure involved in organic certification (By NPOP) and role of APEDA in Promoting export of Agri Products. Dr. Preet Deep Sigh, Senior Assist Vice President, Invest India who also joined virtually deliberated in detail regarding objectives and vision of the One District One Product (ODOP) Programme. Harpreet Singh, Project Officer, Invest India said that the ODOP programme is aimed at promotion of local specialty product from a marketing and export view point.
A question & Answer session was also held on the occasion and all the queries were answered satisfactorily by the experts.
Joint Director (Apiculture & Mushroom), Iqbal Singh, Agronomist (Vegetable Improvement Scheme), J. C. Raina, Agriculture Chemist, Aman Jyoti, were present among others, besides a good number of farmers. Programme officer, Sanjay Dhar conducted the proceedings of the programme and presented the vote of thanks.
