| NSS Unit GCW Udhampur organises cleanliness drive | | |  Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Jan 2: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur organized a cleanliness drive on the fourth day of the weeklong Annual Winter Special Camp on the theme COVID Appropriate Behaviour and Orientation about the OMICRON variant at village Rathian Udhampur. The Camp was organized by the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of GCW Udhampur under the guidance of Principal of the College, Prof. Minu Mahajan.
As many as 40 NSS volunteers accompanied by Sarpanch Panchayat Halqa Rathian, Diwan Chand and NSS Programme Officer Prof. Sanjay Kumar participated in the cleanliness drive and cleaned the bowli and its surrounding areas.
During the cleanliness drive, HoD Philosophy (NSS Programme Officer) Prof. Sanjay Kumar told the volunteers that the village Rathian has been adopted by the NSS unit of the college as part of the community engagement programme of NSS which comes under the umbrella of Ministry of Youth Services & Sports (GOI). He also said that the main motive behind this drive was to spread awareness related to cleanliness and rejuvenation of water bodies which is one of the objectives of Swachh Bharat programme.
Among others, senior faculty members, prominent citizens, locals and large numbers of volunteers were also present in the drive. |
