Links with private clubs to invite action

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 5: Employees of the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council and the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) may face action if they were found "directly or indirectly" associated with private clubs and academies in the Union Territory. The Jammu and Kashmir government last year initiated action against around 15 employees who were found indulging in corrupt practices or had terror links.
Similar action is on the cards against teachers who are non-performers, inefficient, involved in corrupt practices, engaged with private tuition centres or having affiliation with any political outfit, informed sources said.
"There are reports that some trainers (coaches and instructors) of J&K Sports Council and PETs (Physical Education Teacher) of the Youth Services and Department are hand in glove with private players and minting money by imparting training to the budding players outside," a source said.
The sources alleged that some trainers were instigating the trainees practicing at different government-run stadiuns and schools to join the private clubs and academies. The Secretary of the Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul, told UNI: "The government has already issued an order in this regard. If anything comes to our notice, we will definitely take action."
"Some trainers may not be directly affiliated with these private academies but indirectly running the business behind the scenes despite being a government servant," another source said.
Earlier, employees of various ranks were sacked on charges of corruption and misconduct under Article 226(2) of the J&K Civil Service Regulations.
A recent notification has brought an amendment to Article 226 (2) to include a provision allowing the administration to retire at any time "inefficient, ineffective officials and employees including those with doubtful integrity' in public interest after he or she has completed 22 years of service or attained 48 years.
