KVK Reasi organizes monthly workshop for officers

REASI, Jan 21: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Reasi under the aegis of Directorate of Extension, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) organized officers' monthly workshop here at KVK, Reasi campus through online mode which was enthusiastically attended by a number of extension officers from the Department of Agriculture of Udhampur, Reasi and Ramban districts. The workshop was organized under the stewardship of Vice Chancellor, Prof. JP Sharma and guidance of Director Extension, Prof. SK Gupta of SKUAST-Jammu. The officials of Department of Agriculture expressed the field level problems and the scientists of SKUAST-J gave the remedial measures in an elaborative way. Dr. Banarsi Lal, Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi, briefed the objectives of the workshop. While elaborating the monthly message he said that the new interventions should be communicated to the farmers so as to generate more income and employment.
Dr. Sachin Gupta, Associate Prof, Plant Pathology, SKUAST-J discussed on the innovations in mushroom cultivation and stressed on the scientific cultivation of mushroom for the better returns. Dr. SK Singh, Associate Prof, SKUAST-J highlighted the formulation and use of biopesticides, biofuncides and bio-fertilizers in the organic crops. Dr. Satish, Sr. Scientist, SKUAST-J spoke on the commercial cultivation of vegetables and suggested the scientific cultivation of cucurbits and other vegetables.
Dr. Dharvender Sharma, Asstt Prof, SKUAST-J, Dr. Akash Sharma, Asstt Prof, SKUAST-J, Dr Lalit Upadhyay, Scientist, Dr. Sanjay Kaushal, Scientist, Dr. Suja Nabi Qureshi, Scientist, and Dr. Lobzang Stanzen, SMS, also spoke on the occasion. District Agriculture Officer, BK Mahajan spoke on doubling the farmers' income and stressed on the diversified farming. He thanked SKUAST-J scientists for conducting the useful workshop. During the programme, extension officers from the department of agriculture interacted with the scientists and asked various quarries which were answered satisfactorily by the SKUAST-J scientists. Chief Agriculture Officer, Udhampur, Chief Agriculture Officer, Reasi and Chief Agriculture Officer, Ramban coordinated the programme. The programme was assisted by Jagdish Kumar and Manohar Lal and concluded by Dr Banarsi Lal with a formal vote of thanks.
