Day 3: DDC Chairperson Kishtwar refuses to budge

KISHTWAR, Jan 21: District Development Council Chairperson Pooja Thakur continue to sit on Dharna at Dam site of 1000 MW Pakal-Dool Power Project on 3rd consecutive day today and refuse to budge even after Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr. Ragav Langhar had requested her to lift the Dharna and assured her that he will personally visit Kishtwar and discuss whole issues with her for on spot redresser.
DDC Chairperson Kishtwar on Wednesday decided to sit on Dharna in support of demand for engagement of local unemployed youths including qualified engineers in under construction power projects at Kishtwar.
DDC Chairperson was today joined by DDC member Nagsini Faisal Hussain while dozens of women from adjoining areas also today rush to the spot to join DDC Chairperson who was later sent back by Mrs. Pooja Thakur keeping in view of COVID 19 protocol.
Speaking to Early Times DDC Chairperson Kishtwar Pooja Thakur said that she will continue her Dharna till the desire results could be achieved added that ADC Kishtwar visit the site of Dharna last evening and assured her that the demands including payments of compensation will be done in favour of the left out families beside other demands.
"I can't trust anyone- District Administration- Jai Prakash Limited and CVPPP had earlier also made some promises- but nothing was full filled" said Pooja Thakur.
She said that this time Administration, JP and CVPPP should given the written assurances which didn't come since yesterday which agreed by them.
She said that her fight is against the injustice being meted out with the local unemployed youths.
"I will fight till my last breath - I ask the people not to visit the site of Dharna since COVID protocol is in place- I am here for my people who shoulder responsibilities on my shoulders - I will not budge till the demands will be agreed in totality" she said.
Commenting on a viral video where an unemployed person could be seen weeping and begging in front of her for job, Mrs. Pooja Thakur termed the same as heart wrenching added that- that is a tale of every local unemployed youths who everyday lined up outside her office as well as calling her.
"They even brought cook from outside- this is unfortunate" she said added that the person seen in the video is visiting to the project officials since last one and half month, but despite assurances by the project management, he was turn back every time. "I feel disappointed with the attitude of Administration and project management- it was their failure that force me to sit on Dharna" she said and affirm that she will continue her fight till desire results could be achieved.
She said that keeping in view of the possible losses to be occurred to the government due to stopping of the construction work- which could be a national loss- the work at Dam site was allowed to continue.
She said that the ball is in the court of Administration and project managements and hope that sooner the demands will be accepted for the welfare of the local unemployed youths as well as for the project affected families.
