| Draft delimitation report murder of democracy: SIF | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 9: All J&K 1947 PoJK Sharnarthi Intellectual Forum (SIF) called an emergency meeting of its core committee members under the presidentship of Adv Amrik Singh. Secretary of the Forum Surjit Singh also joined the meeting.
The Forum expressed their reservation over the preliminary report of J&K delimitation Commission which was put before the Associate Members of the Commission.
According to assign reports published in print media that if it is correct then the Forum feels it is a murder of democracy.
The Forum elaborated that the Commission without applying its mind has destroyed the demography of Jammu district which is intolerable.
The Forum also reiterated that by merging Suchetgarh constituency into RS Pura it has done a great injustice with the rural voters.
The Forum further stated that the Delimitation Commission had also ignored a big section of PoJK 1947 refugees who are a deciding factor in 17 constituencies and for the last 75 yrs they played their ample role in electing the legislature of other societies but not themselves because of their scattered settlements. The Forum said that despite of our persistent reminders we were deliberately removed from Democratic chart and even our 24 assembly seats of PoJK are frozen without assigning any solid reason. The Forum alleged that there is a great resentment amongst the refugees.
The Forum demands to the chairman of J&K delimitation commission to reconsider their draft report and redraw the sketch of Jammu district's constituencies and also give full status to Suchetgarh constituency along with de-reservation of R.S Pura constituency. |
