Withdrawal of Govt job vacancies leaves thousands of JK youth overage for reapplication!

Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 9: Even as the Jammu and Kashmir government has said that the withdrawal of vacancies in government jobs would be referred to the recruitment agencies for fast track recruitment, thousands of aspirants for the posts would be overage this time thus missing the chance to realize their dreams.
Official sources said thousands of youth of Jammu and Kashmir who had previously applied for the posts referred to J&K Public Service Commission and (JKPSC) J&K Service Selection Board (JKSSB) for recruitment before October 31, 2019, won’t be able to reapply for the jobs as many of them have become overage. “Thousands of youth who had previously applied for the posts have become overage. They won’t be able to apply again and this is sheer injustice with them,” said a senior official on the condition of anonymity.
Sources said the decision to withdraw the jobs was taken by a group of officials, who are on deputation in Jammu and Kashmir.
“This coterie which is on deputation is calling the shots without knowing the reality of ground situation in Jammu and Kashmir and they don’t even mind to take into confidence officials in the Civil Secretariat who have worked here for decades,” said a group of senior officials on the condition of anonymity.
The officials said even as the administration has decided to readvertise the posts “thousands of educated youth would be deprived of their due share of competing in the exams.”
Its pertinent to mention following hue and cry, even from the Bharatiya Janta Party leaders, the Jammu and Kashmir government in a “knee jerk” reaction has decided to readvertise the posts “without looking at the damage it has already done on the career of youth who are overage to apply now.”
On February6, the Jammu and Kashmir government said “All the vacancies recalled by a recent decision of the Administrative Council shall be referred again to recruitment agencies for fast track recruitment as per the new domicile, reservation and recruitment rules providing equal opportunity to all. A free, fair and merit based selection shall be quickly ensured.”
“It is also clarified that withdrawal of posts referred to PSC /SSB before 31.10.2019 has only been done for posts where selections have not been made and results have not been declared.”
The government said: “It is important to note that a number of posts referred to PSC /SSB by various departments, have remained stuck up for long time, in some cases 2004 onwards. Some of these posts could not have been advertised, as they were against recruitment rules. Therefore, selection against these posts could not have been made. Withdrawing these posts was essential to ensure that they can be filled up as per rules in vogue, opening opportunities for youth of J&K.”
