Delimitation Commission drafted report in AC room to benefit political party: Manjit Singh
2/9/2022 10:36:56 PM
Early Times Report
SAMBA, Feb 9: Apni Party Provincial President and Former Minister, Manjit Singh has criticized Delimitation Commission for preparing a draft report against the aspiration of the without consulting people on the ground. "The report against the people of Jammu's every region and every district which was drawn while taking into account considerations of a political party to ensure their dominance if the assembly elections are held in J&K," said the Former Minister. He was addressing a public meeting in Samba district. There is anger among the people and people are wondering who the Commission members would have consulted before drafting their report, he said and rejected the report which proposes assembly constituencies merging assemblies even as they have imbalance in population ratio no link with villages and in some cases, entire constituencies were merged with another. "J&K has always been the victim of supremacy of the bureaucracy which works on the directions and wishes of a political party whenever it is in power," he said. He said that the marginalized section feels cheated with the Commission's draft report which needs to be withdrawn and again a serious consultation should be taken into account by the Commission members before submitting a final report. "They have snatched the rights of one section to empower another which shows a partial approach of the Commission which claims to be working without influence," he said. He said that the public interest has been compromised by the Commission and a political party in the lust to gain power in J&K and restore a Govt which suits them. "We are against any kind of anti-democratic activities. Our Party has been demanding restoration of statehood and holding of assembly polls as there is no existence of democratic system for the last several years and it has put the people in trouble," he said. The Govt has no connection with the people and the bureaucracy is working with full arrogance without giving heed to the public grievances. He warned that such an attitude will destroy the social fabric of the society and hurt the basic ethos of democratic structure in J&K which needs special attention of the Govt. He said that every section of society is annoyed with the draft report which has left them without representation. "We are holding discussion with leaders in Jammu as everyone is on the same page to oppose the draft report and accordingly future course of action to be decided," he added.
