Four Poachers arrested for killing protected Wildlife; Reasi Police

REASI, Feb 12: Police station Reasi received information from reliable source that few persons have hunted down a protected wild animal 'Sambhar Deer' by shooting with arms in Lamsora area of Reasi. In this regard case FIR no. 12/2021 U/S 9/51 Wild life Protection Act, 3/25 Arms Act Police Station Reasi immediately registered, investigation started, search of poachers launched & four arrested.
As the case was of Special nature Sr. Superintendent of Police Shailender Singh constituted a special team led by DySP Headquarters Reasi. Police team immediately rushed to Lamsora and Kansar villages surrendered by river Chenab to explore facts & details in the episode.
A number of suspects were rounded up and asked to participate in the investigations. After hectic efforts, Police team zeroed upon one Bittu Singh S/O Belli Ram R/O Lamsora no. 1 Tehsil Bhomag who during sustained questioning confessed about the commission of crime alongwith some other criminals. Bittu is arrested and on his disclosure his '12 Bore rifle' used in the crime has been recovered & seized in the case. Other incriminating evidences regarding killing of protected wild animal have also been collected.
Two more poachers who were involved in killing of the Sambar Deer are Daler Singh & Sher Singh both sons of Shivsaran R/O of Lamsora no. 2 Tehsil Bhomag, district Reasi are also arrested from the area. Their licence weapons used in the crime are also seized in the case.
One Village Defense Committee (VDC) Special Police Officer (SPO) Krishan Singh S/O Shankar Dass R/O Lamsora, Tehsil Bhomag, who was also involved in the crime along with his rifle issued by the department is also arrested & VDC Weapon (303 )Rifle confiscated & seized in the case. He is disengaged as VDC SPO & his services have been discontinued.
Shailender described the killing of the beautiful animal as barbaric and conveyed that accused involved in such Barbaric act shall be brought to justice at the earliest.
