Martyr’s native village lacks road connectivity, proper power supply

Kishtwar, Feb 12: The family of Naib Subhedar, Ashok Chara Chuni Lal who received three distinguished gallantry award for his bravery including Ashok Chakra posthumously today slam successive governments for their failure in fulfilling its promises including the construction of road to his village that also lacks proper power supply.
Speaking to Early Times, Shanker Das father of Martyred Naib Subhedar Chuni Lal said that successive government abandon them and even fail to fulfill its promises made with them at the time he sacrificed his life for the nation while fight Pakistani terrorist in Keron sector in Poonch.
Shanker Das said that in the year 2007 when his son achieved martyrdom, Azad Government was in Jammu and Kashmir added that his government promised to construct road upto his village which is even incomplete since last 15 years. He said that for electricity purpose they visited the office of Executive Engineer PDD for upgradation of transformer in the village which is facing massive power cuts and power outrage, but nothing was done added that they were forced to take dinner under candle light.
He said that government both at state and centre in last 15 years never looked at them other than army who help them beyond imagination.
He said that they were happy that army had installed his statue at a park established by 4 RR at Bhara Khelani Bhaderwah in memory of martyr Naib Subhedar Chuni Lal who died on 24-6-2006 while fight infiltration at LOC in Keran Sector. He said that even Omar Abdullah Government, Mufti Governments didn’t pay any heed towards them or their family.
Speaking to Early Times, Martyr Chuni Lal daughter Arti Devi said that government should not abandon the families of martyrs added that they are jobless and government should provide the job to them instead of playing politics on the martyrs.
“Let’s not abandon us by the (Govt)— instead all the family members of every martyr should be taken care of properly” said Arti Devi.
It is pertinent to mention that Naib Subhedar Chuni Lal had received three awards in army- first Sena Medal in January 1988 for taking part in operation “Meghdoot” in capturing famous Bana post located at 21153 feet in Siachen glacier for the Act of gallantry.
He received Vir Chakra in the year 2000 for serving at LOC in Poonch sector wherein he foiled an attempted intrusion bid by Pakistani army solders.
In Poonch he single handedly killed 12 solders of Pakistan army and was awarded Vir Chakra for the same in January 2001.
He revived Ashok Chakra posthumously after he scarified his life in Keron Sector and achieved martyrdom after eliminating 5 Pakistani terrorist.
