Early times Report

Kupwara, Feb 13: Shivsena Jammu and Kashmir Unit leaders organized street meetings in different areas of Kupwara district of Kashmir, reaching out to the people of Kashmir during which about 200 workers of various regional parties influenced by the policies and ideas of the party, joined Shivsena. In a statement issued to media today, Shivsena Jammu and Kashmir Unit state chief Manish Sahni said that under the guidance and directions of the party National Secretary and MP, Anil Desai, Shivsena determined to be the voice of the people and possible efforts will be made to proliferate the public aspirations and get their issues resolved. Sahni said that the central government has failed to come up to the expectations of people as it only made hollow promises to the people of Jammu and Kashmir never to be fulfilled. In a scathing attack on the main political parties of the state, he said that instead of raising voice on important issues like employment, education, health facilities, there is a competition among them to claim credit for the revocation and abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A.
Even the dream of restoring peace in Kashmir could not be realized, Sahni said adding that the socio-cultural and economic upliftment of Kashmir has been continuously neglected. Kashmir has immense potential for many local industries including bat industry, horticulture, fish industry, fruit processing units, food varieties, etc which need to be promoted by providing the requisite assistance including the financial support. Farmers should be given crop loss and loan waiver. The Shivsena President said that it seems that the promise of film city in Kashmir by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also going to be yet another Jumla. He demanded free electricity and water for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, saying that Jammu and Kashmir is one of the regions with the highest potential for hydroelectric power in the country. He lamented that despite this, the people of Jammu and Kashmir are being looted by selling electricity to the consumers at high prices. He alleged that infrastructure of education and health facilities have also collapsed.
Sahni said that tourism is the main source of income in J&K which needs to be promoted. He appealed to the Prime Minister and the Chief Ministers of all the states to cooperate in the promotion of Jammu and Kashmir’s tourist destinations providing special exemption to the government employees coming to Jammu and Kashmir as tourists.
