First time in decade, BOPEE delays MBBS admissions
2/13/2022 11:22:37 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 13: For the first time in the last around a decade, the Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE) has been “dilly dallying” the admissions for the prestigious MBBS and other courses “putting the career of aspirants at stake” in Jammu and Kashmir. With this being the concern of the government towards the aspirants for the prestigious courses like MBBS, “the plight of education can only be imagined.”
The exams for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET were held in Jammu and Kashmir in September 2021 but that till now the admissions are awaited.
A senior official said told Early Times on the condition of anonymity that it was for first time in last around a decade that the “admission process was getting delayed for mysterious reasons.”
While the MBBS aspirants have been staging roadside protests against the delay, the Jammu and Kashmir administration is allegedly unmoved.
What is even shocking is that the babus have been unable to defend the “unwanted delay in the admissions.”
“NEET is a prestigious exam and when the J&K administration is unable to complete the process in a timely manner it only speaks about the efficiency of the system,” said the official on the condition of anonymity.
The students have been accusing the government of playing with the career. “We don’t know why this delay and what is their plan,” the students said.
The parents are equally concerned over the delay. “Our children have been waiting for the MBBS selection list since September 2021… So, still there are issues…5 months since exam and Boppee still in a dilemma… Khoda Kerenav Reham,” said a parent on the social media.
When contacted a senior official said the admission was awaited due to “expected changes in the matrix.” He said the issue was being resolved on priority. Asked that for the first time the admission process was being delayed, he said “the government is committed towards welfare of youth.”
