Patient alleges lack of care at GMC&H Jammu
2/19/2022 11:22:11 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Feb 19: Government Medical College & Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu is under scrutiny for the alleged lack of patient care at its Emergency Ward.
Mohd Khaliq of Ramban, who sustained a fracture on his arm in a bike accident last month, expressed his helplessness and anger after he was allegedly denied bandages by the staff of Emergency Ward of GMC&H Jammu.
The patient Khaliq said, “I visited the hospital today and got my check up at OPD.
After that I went to the Plaster Room for a change of bandages but the staff there told me that they don’t have the bandages due to no supply and I have to bring it from outside.”
“Then I approached the CMO who said that take the bandages from the Emergency Ward and stamped my papers so that I could get the bandages but to my utter surprise the staff first gave me the bandages and suddenly get them back following which I contacted the Hospital Superintendent who assured me that I will get the bandages. Finally I got the bandages but another shock was waiting for me as this time the hospital staff told me to bring the cotton roll from outside,” he added.
He said even though the doctors are doing their job properly, the follow up system is not up to the mark as the hospital staff put the patients at unnecessary harassment, adding that it is hospital administration’s negligence since it is unable to run the hospital in a smooth manner.
Khaliq said that if a Post Graduate person like him has to run from pillar to post just to fetch bandages or cotton then one could imagine that what sort of ordeal is being faced by the poor people from far off places like Ramban, Bhaderwah, Doda and Kishtwar as and when they visit this hospital for their or their near ones’ treatment.
