GDC Chenani organizes sensitization workshop on NTCP

CHENANI, Feb 25: Govt Degree College (GDC) Chenani under the auspices of its NSS Unit PRAYATNA and Red Ribbon club organized one day Sensitization Workshop in collaboration with the Community Health Centre (CHC), Chenani on National Tobacco Control Program (NTCP) today. An Intra-college seminar was also held on the occasion on the theme 'Tobacco Consumption and its Adverse Effects'. The event was sponsored by CHC, Chenani.
The purpose of the event was to inform and educate the students about the health hazards of tobacco products as also the social and economic costs of tobacco and smoking and that trying it out just for experimentation or fashion must be avoided.
Dr. Dev Raj Mishra, Block Medical Officer, Chenani was the Co-Patron of the programme while Dr. Nitika Sharama, Dr. Aprajita Sharma, Dr. Atul Goswami, Dr. Rohit Sharma and Mr. Kapil Sharma were the special guests present in the event.
Dr. Pragya Khanna, Principal of the College in her formal inaugural address stated that organising such sensitization programmes is aimed to create awareness on the adverse effects of tobacco. She opined this workshop is aimed to handhold and build capacity of the stakeholders concerned for the implementation of tobacco control programme.
The students of the college showed active participation in the seminar. Yashpaul Kumar Dogra, a student of BA semester V bagged the first position. The second and third positions were secured by Parveen Akhter and Mohd Arif, students of BA first and fifth semesters respectively while Ariya, Sunaina and Sonia Katoch were given the consolation prizes. The winners were felicitated with mementos and cash prizes by CHC, Chenani
Anita Kumari, Assistant Professor, English presented the formal vote of thanks.
