LUCKNOW, Mar 2: Union Minister Smriti Irani shared video of welcoming Indians from Ukraine on multilingual app Koo on Wednesday.
Union Minister Smriti Irani welcomed Indians back home by speaking in regional languages on their return from war-torn Ukraine on March 2.
Irani, the Minister for Women and Child Development in the Union Cabinet, shared the video on multilingual social media app Koo in which she can be seen welcoming the students inside an IndiGo airlines aircraft.
Speaking into the public address system, Irani can be heard saying that evacuated Indians have shown "exemplary courage" in the "most challenging of times".
"I am grateful for your resilience, for your courage and patience," she says and leads the slogans of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai". she also thanked the airlines crew for their service.
Many ministers in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet were seen welcoming Indian students returning home through special flights arranged as part of Operation Ganga - India's evacuation mission for its nationals stranded amidst a raging war in East European country.
Prime Minister Modi has asked four ministers in his cabinet to travel to countries bordering Ukraine and assist in evacuation of Indians, mostly students. It is estimated that close to 1,5000 students study in different universities of Ukraine.
Union Minister General (Retd) VK Singh, of the four ministers who travelled to Europe, o posted a similar video on Koo app in which he can be seen speaking to students inside an aircraft amid "Vande Mataram" chats.
Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said six flights have now departed for India in the last 24 hours, including the first flights from Poland. "Carried back 1377 more Indian nationals from Ukraine," he said.
