                    | Casual labourers threaten indefinite strike | | ‘Bureaucrats want us to work on meager wages forever’ | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, Mar 2: Casual labourers staged a protest here on Wednesday demanding that 61000 daily wagers should be regularized and Minimum Wages Act (MWA) be implemented in the Union Territory. Talking to reporters they said, “If the government fails to fulfill their genuine demands they will be left with no other option other than going on an indefinite strike.” The protesters said that the government is not paying any attention towards their genuine demands and is treating them shabbily. “Members of our association will be going to Jammu to decide future course of action as the casual labourers in the winter capital too are on strike,” they said, “Bureaucrats least bothered about our plight and want us to work on the meager wages forever.” |
