Early Times Report

Srinagar, Mar 3: A lone protester from Tangmarg staged a protest in Srinagar on Thursday.
Protester, Gowhar Ahmed Malik, while talking to Early Times said that he had taken his aunt to Sub District Hospital Tangmarg after she complained of acute pain. “We were asked to get a USG done from outside and we followed the instructions. After checking the USG, Dr Farooq at SDH Tangmarg told me to take the patient to Ibni Sina hospital at Budgam as the surgery cannot be performed in Tangmarg hospital,” he added.
Malik said, “After I reached the hospital I told the receptionist that Dr Farooq has referred us and showed him the USG.
The receptionist told me that the patient will have to undergo a new USG as the registration number of the doctor who has performed the USG is not mentioned on the report. I called up the USG Centre and asked the Dr who had performed the USG to share his registration number. He did it and I mentioned it in the USG report. When I went back to the reception the boy sitting there got angry and threw the report on my face and misbehaved. Others also joined him and I along with my aunt, sister and father were thrown out of the hospital.”
“I want to ask Dr Farooq why he referred us to a private hospital where we were beaten and humiliated. Another question I want to ask the administration is why gallbladder surgery cannot be performed at Tangmarg hospital. I have decided to lodge an FIR against the staff of Ibni Sina hospital and urge the Lieutenant Governor to order a probe why patients are referred from the government hospitals to private hospitals,” Malik added.
