JAMMU, Mar 8: Government Degree College (GDC) Chenani under the auspices of its NSS unit Prayatna and Azaadi ka Amrit Mohatsav cell organised one day national webinar to mark the International Day Women's Day 2022. The programme was organized in collaboration with the NGO, Global Helping Hand and the main aim of the program was to highlight the cultural, political and socio- economic achievements of women in different walks of life and to highlight the cyber challenges and threats women in globalised and informative world are facing.
Dr. Chandra Kanta Gariyali, former Secretary to Governor of Tamil Nadu was the chief guest and the keynote speaker in the event. She stated in her address that women should be made aware about online safety and should be oriented how to stay cyber safe. She opined that online safety is paramount and women need to impart caution and use digital services with a safety first approach.
Dr. Shubhra Sharma, Director, Forensic Science Laboratory, J&K was the guest of honour in the event. She highlighted the problems women folk are facing in the society. She said early marriages, domestic abuse and lack of financial empowerment of Women are the major challenges women are facing in Jammu division.
Priyanka Kumari, DYSP & Supervisor, Cyber Police, Jammu Zone was the special guest. She highlighted the rising incidents of cyber bullying, child pornography and sexual exploitation and several other online threats that female children are facing and explained in detail how the victims can be rescued and insisted on staying vigilant while on social media.
Dr. Pragya Khanna, Principal of the College in her welcome address emphasised on the need for enhanced cyber security awareness and noted that it is critical for all citizens to be digitally smart so that they do not fall prey to cyber frauds and cyber based violence. She exhorted the young girls and women to desist from revealing their personal activities and other details on social media network.
