| Parmandal people continue protest against shifting of Degree College to Katwalta | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 8: The locals as well as the Civil Society of Purmandal area of Samba continued a complete shutdown on Tuesday also and staged a protest against authorities, alleging shifting of Government Degree College (GDC) that was sanctioned for Purmandal to Katwalta. Locals and Civil Society members told that Government Degree College was sanctioned for Purmandal and should have been constructed at the location, but now the building is being shifted to another location, which is grave injustice with the people of this area.
Sitting on a protest dharna, the protesters said that Civil Society and every single citizen of this area are against this move, which will directly affect the life of their coming generations. "We clearly ask the government authorities to keep the campus of Degree College at Purmandal only else more intense protest will be held in the area," they said.
Students from these areas can reach easily to make education accessible to deprived but due to the personal interest of few students will remain deprived of education and District Administration is not paying much attention to the issue. They lamented that the foundation stone of the Degree College Purmandal should have been laid here but the officer of the higher authorities have started the construction of Degree College at Katwalta which is gross injustice with students here. They asked Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir to make the college in Parmandal so the students get proper benefits of the said college.
