Deadly blasts in JK, 2 more killings in a week mock at Raj Bhawan’s rosy picture

Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 10: Even as the government of Jammu and Kashmir is busy celebrating festivals of sorts, the situation in the Union Territory seems to be grim.
Within a week, two local body representatives have been killed in the valley in separate incidents, whereas two deadly blasts rocked Jammu and Kashmir provinces, apart from other attacks from the terror groups.
On March 6, two persons were killed and over thirty wounded in a grenade attack at Amira Kadal in the summer capital of Srinagar.
On March 9, one person was killed and 13 were injured in a improvised explosive device (IED) blast at a busy market in Udhampur district.
The same evening, a Sarpanch identified as Sameer Bhat was shot dead by militants on the outskirts of Srinagar. The incident happened hours after an IED blast in Udhampur.
Bhat’s killing comes a week after Muhammad Yaqoob Dar, a Panch from Sundoo village of Kulgam district was shot dead by militants on March 2.
In another recent incident, on March 10, a bank guard was injured when suspected militants attacked him in an apparent bid to snatch his weapon in Muran Chowk of Pulwama.
The bank guard, Abdul Hameed Wani of Tahab, who received injuries in the leg, has been hospitalized while entire area was immediately cordoned off by police and army. In incident happened on the day when an encounter was underway in the same district wherein an unidentified militant was killed.
Prior to these incidents, on February 28, Sheikh Firdous, a police inspector with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) survived miraculously after being shot at and injured by militants in Batamaloo area of this capital city.
Security analysts have been saying that New Delhi must opt for “major reshuffle in Jammu and Kashmir.”
“New Delhi needs to realize that what the Raj Bhawan is trying to showcase through singing and dancing and other concerts is not the reality. Heads must roll because some officials on deputation have been interfering with some sensitive subjects including transfers to meet their vested interests and this is what Modi JI needs to be apprised about,” said a senior official on the condition of anonymity.
