Parents refuse to send children to unsafe school building in Kishtwar

Jammu, Mar 10: The tall claims of the government with regard to improvement in education and basic infrastructure in government schools falls flat since the parents refuses to send their children’s to Primary School Suranga Patnazi in remote Patnazi A Panchayat area of Bhunjwah Tehsil in Kishtwar District due to unsafe condition of the school building that can invite disaster for the children.
As per the details available with Early Times, the parents of the students studying in Primary School Suranga Patnazi with 44 student enrolment in the school assembled at school premises and showed its concern towards safety of their children’s studying inside the school building that suffered massive damage in 2014 earthquake.
The parents said that the building suffered the damages in the earthquake which further worsened with the passage of the time added that it is not now feasible to send their children to study in this unsafe school building.
The angry parents said that they brought the matter into the notice of concern department as well into the notice of local administration many a time; but nothing has been done so far and now urged upon the District Administration as well as to the LG Manoj Sinha to look into the matter and get the matter addressed by repairing the school building beside urge the government to make alternative arrangements for the school till in the present building become worth for carrying forward educational activities inside it.
Similar condition is said to be that of Primary School Gooni Heaven also in Patnazi A Panchayat with 34 student enrolling in the school.
“This building is unsafe- we cannot afford to put the lives of our children to risk- so we decided to not send their children’s to school till the issue get resolved” said that parents and urged the school teachers to close the school.
When contacted DC Kishtwar Ashok Kumar Sharma assured to look into the matter at an earliest possible time.
