AAP as option in Jammu
Vijay Gar3/30/2022 11:44:59 PM
The Congress Party failing to play a role of a powerful opposition has disappointed the people in Jammu region. The Congress’s failure has provided a chance to regional parties in Jammu region to come forward and occupy the vacant space.
The Congress Party remained in power in J&K for 12 consecutive years from 2002 to 2014 but the last eight years have proven that the Grand Old Party of the country after being ousted from power has lost the way not only in Jammu but in the country also.
The Congress Party in J&K is virtually defunct and is faction ridden. There are reports that the convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has deputed a team to rope in some prominent political faces in Jammu to give a fight to BJP by filling the political vacuum.
There is governance deficit in Jammu region and resentment is brewing against the BJP in Jammu province. Although administration led by the Lieutenant Governor is not giving any importance to local BJP leaders, barring two or three, there is a widespread feeling among people of Jammu that the present government is working on the directions of BJP.
AAP after winning the assembly elections in Punjab with a thumping majority is hopeful of making inroads into Jammu region. In absence of the Congress Party the AAP will find it easy to strike a chord with Jammu people, who are yearning for a change.
The people centric decisions taken by the AAP Government in Punjab are making people believe that if the dispensation has the will it can do anything.
If the AAP emerges in Jammu it can give tough fight to BJP as many people have already written of the Congress. Possibility about the Congress Party getting revived looks bleak.
Had the Congress leaders tried to become the voice of people and raised their issues today the party would not have been caught in a difficult situation.
Now, the field is open for AAP and regional parties and it seems that the party led by Arvind Kejriwal can emerge as a strong alternative for the Congress and BJP. Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, has already announced that elections in J&K will be held after the delimitation exercise gets completed. The change in J&K seems inevitable.
