The Pen Stand is a collection of articles written by columnist, journalist and heritage conservationist, Dr. Satwant Singh Rissam between 2011 and 2021 which have appeared in the columns of leading newspapers and news media platforms of J&K. We don’t want to make a judgment on this book. But there is a lot to learn about society, polity and democracy from this book "Pen Stand ''.
About the Author
Dr.Satwant Singh Rissam is a columnist, journalist and heritage conservationist based in Jammu (J&K). He did his graduation from Symbiosis Law School, Pune and earned his master's degree in law (LL.M) from University of Jammu. Also he furthered his studies by doing Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (PGDHRM) from Symbiosis Centre for Distance Learning (SCDL), Pune. While pursuing his master's degree in law, he remained involved in the student activism work and it helped him develop interest in writing on contemporary issues of Jammu & Kashmir. In 2011, he started writing articles which appeared in the columns of various local newspapers in J&K. Soon he emerged as a noted columnist in J&K. At present, his columns are published in leading dailies and news media platforms of Jammu and Kashmir and are always widely read amongst readers from all across the J&K. Before turning to journalism, Dr. Rissam worked as a lecturer of law in the Dogra Law College in Jammu. Later, he went on to pursue his Ph.D from University of Jammu. In the past years, he got to work with Daily Excelsior, Duggar Desh News and Jammu Links News. Moreover, Dr. Rissam is also involved in the field of conservation and heritage protection in Jammu and is Additional Co- Convenor of Jammu Chapter of Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), one of the world’s largest heritage organizations with over 190 Chapters across the country.

In this book Dr. Satwant has documented important articles which are of contemporary relevance and everybody can extract knowledge from this book. This book contains articles which are views and opinions of Dr. Rissam on issues which happened in the last 10 years in the local and national arena. The book is full of topics on health, society, politics and democracy, governance deficit and some topics of sports are compiled in this book. This book mentions matters on which concern should always be shown in J&K and at the national level by the citizens. The author, in a way, narrates his journey of 10 years and how he understood many topics and learned about J&K.
