New Delhi, Apr 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday announced that more than three crore houses have been constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna.
“We have set an important milestone in the resolve to give a pucca house to every poor person in the country. It is only with the participation of the people that it has been possible to construct more than three crore houses. These houses with basic amenities have also become a symbol of women empowerment today,” he said in a tweet.
The Prime Minister also shared a graphics giving out details of the construction work under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna.
It says that under the rural component of the Yojana, the construction of 2.52 crore pucca houses has been completed and a central assistance of Rs 1.95 lakh crore has been released so far. Besides, every beneficiary has got LPG connection facility under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.
It further says that under the urban component of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, construction of 58 lakh pucca houses has been completed and a central assistance of Rs 1.18 lakh crore has been released so far.
Talking about other features, the Prime Minister said that the scheme makes woman’s homeownership mandatory and every house building under the scheme has facilities like toilet, kitchen, electricity and water.
The Prime Minister also shared his statement made earlier which says that “the campaign to give our pucca house to the poor is not just a government scheme, but it is our commitment to give confidence to the poor, to the village. It is the first step to lift the poor out of poverty.
When the poor gets a house, then this brings a stability in his life. The government is giving top priority to PM Awas Yojana with this thinking.”
