| JMC workers demand salary, get batons | | |

JAMMU, Apr 16: Ruckus broke out near the Press Club here after Jammu & Kashmir Police personnel went on a rampage and beat up the workers of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) who were protesting in support of their demands.
This morning a group of workers of the JMC assembled near the Press Club and started protesting against the Jammu & Kashmir administration. The JMC workers were demanding release of salary that according to them is pending for a long time now.
The protesters resorted to high pitch sloganeering, and in the same time a posse of Jammu & Kashmir Police personnel including women cops appeared on the scene.
There was a scuffle between the two sides and a melee broke out. The police personnel swooped on the protesters and whisked scores of them away in police vehicles. |
