Amit Shah lays foundation stone for several projects in Pondy

Puducherry, Apr 24: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday assured that Puducherry will be made a “BEST” union territory as announced by prime minister Narendra Modi during the election campaign here under the leadership of Rangasamy(CM) and Namasivayam (Home Minister).
Laying the foundation stone for several projects here, Mr. Shah said the centre will extend all assistance to Puducherry which is a sacred place where Sri Aurobindo and Poet Subramniya Bharathi lived.
He said during the last congress regime corruption prevailed but our agenda is only development.
Speaking on the occasion Lt.Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan said with the combined efforts of all, Puducherry will be made a “BEST” union territory in the country.
Chief minister N Rangasamy said the central government is extending all support for the development of Puducherry.
Our long term demand is conferring of statehood on Puducherry and expressed hope that it will be fulfilled. He also expressed hope that the union government will provide additional funds sought for Puducherry.
A Franco Tamil village at Nungambakkam at a cost of Rs.6.07 crores, redevelopment of existing bus stand,construction of new inter-state bus terminus, beautification and development of Grand canal, improvement of Botanical Garden, Eco tourism within the urban forest area besides three academic buildings for the Pondicherry university are among the projects for which Mr. Shah laid the foundation stone Sunday.
Later, he visited the party office where he will address party cadres and leave for Chennai enroute to Delhi Sunday evening.
