| Go-Air to operate 5 flights per wk b/w Srinagar and Sharjah | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Apr 29: In a significant development, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has allocated flight rights between Srinagar and Sharjah five times a week to Go-first airlines, officials said.
The development comes months after the Srinagar-Sharjah flight was suspended by the airlines.
The last flight had operated between Srinagar and Sharjah at the end of January and it has been suspended since then. The reason for the suspension of the international flight in January was that it did not have the requisite bilateral rights.
There is a possibility that the flight between Srinagar and Sharjah would resume in the next 15 to 30 days.
J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha announced that the Ministry of Civil Aviation has approved Srinagar-Sharjah flights.
"Ministry of Civil Aviation has approved Srinagar-Sharjah flights to the extent of 5 flights per week on a regular basis. My deepest gratitude to Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi Ji," the office of LG tweeted.
"UT administration, @MoCA_GoI (Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India) & Hon'ble Minister Shri @JM_Scindia taking necessary steps on priority to strengthen air connectivity to cater to growing tourism & industry sectors," another tweet said .
The Srinagar Sharjah flight was flagged-off by Amit Shah on October 23 last year. Within 10 days, Pakistan disallowed the use of its air space. India requested Pakistan to grant overflight rights for the flight.
At the time of launch of the it was said the international flight will help boost tourism in Jammu and Kashmir. |
