Early Times Report

Srinagar, Apr 30: For the first time in the past so many years residents of Kashmir were unable to withdraw money from ATMs on the eve of Eid and mPay applications didn’t work.
People were left high and dry as many ATMs were defunct and the mPay transactions were not working.
The customers said that it has become a new normal that mPay like applications often get defunct ahead of festivals like Eid-ul-Fitr, leading to huge inconvenience to people. “At least three ATMs in our area have stopped functioning since morning on the eve of the Eid ul Fitr, which is leaving us to face a plethora of problems," a local resident from Natipora said.
People were unable to buy the commodities ahead of Eid as they were left cashless.
Reports reaching from different districts of the Valley stated that ATMs turned defunct in many areas. “People being unable to withdraw money from ATMs and mpay turning defunct has hot our businesses hard as people are unable to make purchases. It’s for the first time in history of Kashmir that people have turned cashless and are unable to make purchases,” said a shopkeeper.
People urged the J&K Bank authorities to intervene into the matter and restore the services at the earliest.
