DDC, BDC members, panchs, sarpanchs sit on dharna against power crisis in Chenab Valley
5/2/2022 11:20:05 PM

Early Times Report

Doda, May 2: DDC, BDC members, panchs and sarpanchs staged a massive protest outside the office of Deputy Commissioner here on Monday against the electricity crisis in the district.
Protesters sat on a dharna and demanded explanation from the district administration. “It’s unfortunate that despite Chenab Valley being the hub of power production, its residents are suffering in absence of electricity,” protesters said, “We were told on August 5, 2019 that J&K would witness revolution and destinies of people will change. Nothing has changed and things have worsened. Earlier we used to get electricity for 16 to 18 hours. Now we are not getting power for even 6 hours.”
They said, “It’s unfortunate that people of J&K have been deprived of even electing their own representatives. Either government should hold the elections or address the issues of people forthwith.”
Protesters said, “Everyone is suffering in the absence of electricity. From shopkeepers to a common man everyone has been hit.”
